What is the fastest way to learn to knit in the Seattle area?
I am VERY much a beginner knitter with some ambitious Christmas present goals.
I don’t have time to learn from mistakes.
I’d like to make scarves.
Is there any currently meeting knitting groups that would be willing to teach a bit?
I am not sure of groups as I live in the east coast area but if you check with your senior services hopefully you will find what you are looking for as there are probably more people there who would have that knowledge and they would be happy to help you. If you want to make scarves you can contact{check my avatar and e-mail me}. me and I can send you to a site that would show you a fast way to make the scarves {as you really don’t have too much time and this would make up for it}. Very simple very pretty.

Things I do.
Almost every yarn shop offers beginner classes, sometimes even commercial craft stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby. You can't learn without making some mistakes, even with the best teacher. That's simply not realistic. But here's the great thing about knitting mistakes – the yarn is still usable! You can rework it a dozen times.

There are many many groups in the Seattle area for knitters. Most shops have a meeting group, either day or evening. There are other formal and informal social groups all around the city. Just ask anyone.
To start now to knit scarves for Christmas is a daunting project! It does take a lot of time to knit a scarf. Mistakes are likely to happen. It just takes a lot of experience to do a good job. I am not dissuading you — but be realistic. Perhaps start now to get them done for NEXT year.
