The Traveling Scarf Project

I am starting a new project for fun. I participated in the YarnForward project and got a such a great thrill out of knowing my knitted piece is being viewed half way around the world so I thought I would start a project called the “Traveling Scarf”. This is a project that is intended to unite knitters around the world .

I will start a scarf and knit 4″ (10cm). I will then mail it on to another knitter who will knit another 4″ and then post it on to the next person. When the scarf has been knit by 18 different people it will be 72″ (180cm) long. Ship it back to me so I can document it and then I will have a draw to see who gets to keep the finished scarf or I can donate it to a charity. Then we can start another.

If you would like to participate please contact me at cathy@pattern-knit.com. Put “traveling scarf” in the subject line of your email and I will be in touch to make arrangements to send the scarf to your so you can knit your bit.

  1. I just saw your post. I am fairly new to knitting but have been crocheting since I was 8 and being 34 now I feel I have been crafting forever and love it and now that I finally figured out knitting after years of trying and giving up then trying again I am so excited about it and have finished several projects, I did a backpack for my son and card holders for both my boys and a baby set for a cousin who is expecting. I am finally working on a scarf for my mother. She had sent me this really special yarn that is beautiful and I used a whole ball trying out different patterns until I got one that fit but anyway if the scarf is still traveling and you need another stop I am here in Pittsburgh and would love to participate. My name is Kristen M Gorsuch 204 Capital Ave Pittsburgh, PA 15226. My email is kmg0167@comcast.net. Let me know Thank You so much Kristen G.
