Anyone know how to learn Crochet?
I used to be able to crochet and suddenly thought today that I can’t remember how to do it. Anyone know any websitews that can refresh my memory… every so strange that I can still how to knit but the crochet has completely gone from my mind.
YouTube has tons of useful videos. This person has several:

Can someone recommend a book on how to learn crochet making?
Crochet-is a an art by which a singular hooked needle is used to fabricate a piece of material, something that could be similar to knitting but is in fact a very different way of knitting.I would like to know the name of some books that would help me learn this dying art.
I’ve been crocheting for 30 years. It’s my favorite hobby. My suggestion would be to go to any Michael’s, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn Fabric or WalMart. Go to the yarn section and look through the books. Pick one that appeals to your eye. There are quite a variety that are all pretty good for different price points. They even have CD’s now that you can use on the computer if the pictures are confusing to you, you can watch someone do the stitches. I can also highly recommend those Learn to Crochet kits from Susan Bates. I looked into them for the Intro to Crochet class that I teach. I opted not to use them but they are very good.
Some books I might suggest:

Is taking crochet classes more useful than learning from books?
I would like to learn to crochet and am considering taking a class at the Y (it’s $150 for 6 classes). I’m wondering if learning to crochet in this hands-on method would be significantly better than learning from books and videos. Anyone have experience with this?
How do you usually learn best? That method is what will work best for you. If you have learned other skills from books, then a good book with good diagrams may be the best way for you. If you prefer seeing a demonstration, YouTube videos or an instructional DVD may be best. If you need to try it for yourself and have an expert on hand to correct your errors and walk you through the basics–and give advice–perhaps a class is in your crocheting future. Or you might enjoy a combination of multiple methods.
I agree that $25 per class is a high price for crochet classes. Does that include a "beginner kit" to make a project on which the entire class will learn together? A book and/or video? Lunch? The kit of pattern, hook, yarn, and other materials would lower the per-hour charge a bit; otherwise, consider the per-hour charge. In many places you would be able to find less expensive (but adequate) classes through the Continuing Education division of your local community college or through Adult Education classes through your public school system.
If you decide on a book or similar instruction, I Can’t Believe I’m Crocheting is available at most craft stores for under $10 and rudimentary instructions are available at the Crochet Guild of America web site for free (http://www.crochet.org/lessons/lessonr/lessonr.html –for right-handed crocheters; left-handed crochet instructions are also available.)
You’re on your own for finding a YouTube video that works for you; there are many available (some cause me to grind my teeth; others are excellent). I *can* recommend the DVD of I Can’t Believe I’m Crocheting! which is available from Amazon.com at this link: http://www.amazon.com/I-Cant-Believe-Im-Crocheting/dp/B000GD85IU (and from other sources as well; however, you might want to read the user reviews at the bottom of the Amazon.com page).
Keep in mind, a book or video may or may not have anticipated the question that becomes critical to you ("OMG! This yarn has a big knot in it that will show in my project. What should I do?"). You can always ask an instructor (well, usually–we’ve all known the weirdo who comes in, demonstrates, and leaves and refuses to take questions). Or you can come back to Yahoo! Answers and ask it here.
Are there any good sites to learn to crochet?
about.com, but those sites show u one deminsion. You Tube shows it in real time and a video.
I would go for You tube, personally.
I mean,Sandi Marshall is a great teacher, but on You Tube ( my home on the net) has several vids that actually show you how it is done and how to make the main stitches> slip knot, single crochet,half- double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet as well as the chain stitch.
i love You Tube!!!!!!
Is it ok for guys to learn how to sew, and crochet, and cook?
I do all the sewing in the house but I am a guy. I was just wondering if it is wrong for me to do that since really girls do sewing and crocheting and cleaning and that kind of stuff. but I dont feel it is wrong. What is your thought in this?
I am not married but I have a girlfriend of two years. And I love cooking for her. and providing for her.
I am teaching my boys how to cook, sort their clothes, wash them, and they do chores at home, besides keeping their room clean. I teach them French, too, during the summers (as much as I know).
I taught them how to sew buttons, too, and the youngest can knit loom a hat, with supervision. When they go to college, they won’t be able to pop in so that I can do that stuff for them. They need to survive!
I’m not going to last them forever, and I know that my future daughters in law are going to call me blessed and thank me for it!
So, hey, if you want to learn to do art in crochet or knitting, or just because you want to relax, GOPHER IT! It won’t take away from your manhood.

What "made simple books or courses" are available to learn about CROCHETING?
I would like to learn all about the "art of crocheting."
Michaels, or any other craft store, for that matter, carries a full line of books on crocheting….How To Crochet If You Think You Can’t…..Crocheting For Dummies (which is actually pretty good), and lots of others. Also, it is almost a certainty that they will have classes you can take, with good instructors.
Where can I learn to crochet in Chicago?
how about a nursing home close to where you live…i’m sure some of the ladies there would love to teach you….would enjoy your company and feel like they are needed
You could go to your local library and check out a crocheting basics book
Or check out your local Highschool see if they have Adult Classes or could give you information on where to go
